To Adelaide (Fringe Festival) And Beyond

Later this week, I will be on my way to perform at the Adelaide Fringe Festival.

I am VERY excited about this !!

I haven’t played my saxophone in Adelaide for years….actually, now thinking about it, decades.

For those of you who have been following along at home, for the last few years I have been fortunate enough to be involved with a musical theatre group here in Melbourne called nuworks Theatre.

My two daughters are also involved and together with my wife as a family we have had some great adventures together.

Two years ago all four of us we went on tour with nuworks Theatre across Germany, England and Wales.  Last year my youngest daughter and I went with nuworks and performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, which was an amazing experience.

This year is shaping up for another good fun year of rehearsals and performances for both me and my daughter individually and together.

And now we’re off to the Adelaide Fringe Festival – performing 5 gigs across 3 days on March 8th, 9th and 10th.

We have rehearsed and performed That Bastard Brecht for almost a year now.  And, even if I do say so myself, we have become rather good at it as a result !

We won the Best Overseas Show Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2018.  We got some wonderful write ups and reviews in various newspapers and online publications.  The audiences seemed to like our shows too.

What about our own backyard ?

We have realised that Adelaide is soooooooooo much closer to Melbourne than Edinburgh is.  As a result we are all making the epic journey, which works well with our epic theatre concept.

Adelaide is approx 730 kms (453 miles) away from Melbourne.  Flying is certainly an option, but most of us are going to drive.  It “only” takes about 8 or 9 hours non-stop in the car.  Here in Australia we are used to long drives and there are certainly longer road trips than that in our country !  And the road between Melbourne and Adelaide is great.

I am again REALLY enjoying performing with and spending time with my daughter in this latest round of performances.  Last year in Edinburgh together was a fantastic Dad/Daughter experience – and I’m looking forward to doing the same again together in Adelaide.

To Adelaide (Fringe Festival) and Beyond

It’s a whirlwind trip – driving all day Thursday, performing 1 show on Friday evening, 2 shows on Saturday, 2 shows on Sunday, then driving home again on Monday.

The only downside with this trip is that we are unlikely to have any time to see any other Adelaide Fringe Festival acts or performances !

So, if you are going to be in Adelaide on March 8th, 9th and 10th, 2019, then please come and see our show !

Tickets and more info available via the Adelaide Fringe website.  I hope to see you there – please come and say hi !

……and, we’re going back to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival again in August 2019 too  🙂

Thanks,

Matthew
